Let’s see how far we’ll go and learn about how the legend of the demi-god Maui and other myths that got inspired to be a part of the popular Disney movie Moana! Pack your bags, we are going to Motunui! In this One-Time Class, we will discuss what are the mythologies that were used in the movie Moana, what inspired the creators to use those myths in the movie, and how it all aligned with the movie's storyline. The Polynesian Myths that are discussed in this class are, the legend of Maui, and Te Fiti (Is it real?). THIS CLASS WILL FOCUS MORE ON THE MYTH LEGENDS RATHER THAN THE CULTURE. This is a live class where I will interact with students by open discussion, then I present a slideshow (I created) while discussing the main objectives. In between discussions, students will play a quick drawing contest and a trivia game! I love using humor in the classroom. I also teach how important it is to use joint effort as a team. I include various forms of entertainment and demonstrations in my classes. I welcome Moana fans of all levels of knowledge, from die-hard fans to little knowledge. Students will be able to interact with me anytime during the class by discussion. Students do not need any knowledge of the Myths.
Learning Goals
Students will get a better understanding of the mythologies that were used in the movie and the inspiration behind it.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have researched myth legends and the movie's inspiration behind the use of mythology. I have traveled to Polynesian and Hawaiian islands to learn more in-depth about the stories of the mythology legends. I would love to share my own experience and expertise with other students who are big fans of the Moana movie and want to have a more in-depth understanding of the movie and legends themselves.
