Class Experience

In this 2 class camp, students will learn how to write a story with their favorite Disney friend as the main character! In the first class, students will get a chance to share their favorite character with other students. Students will go through a brief presentation where we will learn the different parts of a story (beginning, middle, and end). Students will also learn how to add imagery (using their 5 senses) into their writing. Together, we will fill out a graphic organizer that will help them plan out their story. In between classes, students will write their Disney character story. In the 2nd class, students will share their Disney character story with other students in class. Afterward, I will share my story with them and together, we will learn how to edit our writing for improvements! Students should have experience with writing complete sentence and to be able to read their writing (age appropriate skills).

Learning Goals

Students will learn how to plan out a story to include a beginning, middle, and end. They will also learn how to add imagery into their writing. Students will also learn how to edit their story so they can continue to improve on their writing skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Justine Jovanvoski, and I am excited to be a teacher on Outschool!

I have over 15 years of teaching experience at the elementary, middle school and high school level. Currently, I teach English and Special Education to 10th, 11th and 12th graders. Additionally, I have been an online ESL teacher for the last 3 years, and have extensive experience with virtual instruction, organization, and classroom management.

In 2005, I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University. I also have certifications in middle school English/Language Arts and Science (grades 6-8). My Master’s Degree, from Wayne State University, is in the area of Special Education, with a focus on students who have learning disabilities.

In my classes, students will learn one of more of the following skills: close reading, writing, analysis, discussion, critical thinking, and executive functioning. Emphasis will be made on individual student involvement, engagement, and excitement. I want your child to leave my class with knowledge in their brain and a smile on their face!

My family includes my husband, our elementary-aged daughter and our cute puppy named Finn! I am a former Walt Disney World Cast Member and a HUGE Disney enthusiast! I am an avid traveler and am always daydreaming and planning my next adventure. In my extra time, you can find me reading a book or binge-watching The Office!

Thank you and I look forward to having your child in class!
