🌏This Social Studies through Disney, ongoing course, makes history and geography accessible to even the youngest learners. Young historians will develop an understanding of the history, geography, groups of people, and cultural stories that inspired their favorite movies. Each week will focus on a different movie. This class makes history relatable and age appropriate as we journey to real world locations with our favorite characters. Learning will take place through interactive slideshows showcasing pictures and videos, virtual field trips, discussion, learning activities, and read-alouds. Toward the end of each class, we will also start a simple art project inspired by the history to help us remember what we learned. Learners may choose to finish it after class as an extension activity. Come journey through time with me and explore the mysterious standing stones from Brave, travel along the great wall of China to learn more about what Mulan's life might have been like, sail the open seas and learn about the stories that inspired Moana, and much more. This is an ongoing class that features a different movie each week and no prior knowledge is needed, so learners can join at any time. Movies featured will be primarily Disney with a few Dreamworks and others sprinkled in. Movies (You do NOT need to have seen the movie to be able to participate.
