Beginner - Intermediate Level
In my course, I have connected movement to our favorite Musicals. But even if your child does not follow the shows, this is an engaging and energetic workout taught by a Certified Pilates and Dance Teacher. This is an ongoing course. Students may sign up to drop in for one class or continue to attend classes each week depending on their schedule and interest. Classes will not build upon each other so learners are welcome to come and go whenever is most convenient for them. Each week new skills and techniques are introduced so learners can drop in and remain flexible. The class renews each week unless you choose to cancel. All classes will rotate on a 10-week schedule and will cycle to the beginning of the themes as outlined. I will remain in contact with students regarding what to expect each week. In this beginner hip-hop dance course, dancers will begin class with a warm-up and stretch. Students will learn new dance terminology and foundational performance skills. Zombies, Descendants, Hamilton, Teen Beach, and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series music will be our dance themes each week. Students will have an opportunity to move their bodies in healthy and happy ways every week. They will also have a chance to discuss class and meet the other students in their course. Social interaction time may include games and no prior knowledge about the movies will be required, although movies may be discussed in class. No dance experience or exercise experience is necessary. No extra materials are required. Here is an example of our classes. Week 1: Zombies Dance: "Someday" Technique: Pivot Steps Warm-up, stretching, center, and technique time. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Brigham Young University-Idaho
I received a ballet scholarship in my Ballet training school in Idaho. I never fell out of love with Ballet and continued to incorporate dance in my life by teaching Beginning Ballet students for 3 years. In 2010, I received a Pilates certification and went on to run my own small Pilates business and I continue to teach students and friends of all ages. I love dancing, but my greatest joy is choreographing movement as an art form. I truly hope for learners to find grace, poise, and confidence in the movements they learn.
