Disney Princess Singing Camp With the Harp!
In this 3-day camp, students will be learning vocal exercises to help them sing like their favorite Disney princess, and they will get to sing their favorite songs with me and my harp in real-time!

In this summer music camp, your child will come away with helpful vocal exercises, confidence singing favorite Disney songs, experience singing with a harp, and FUN memories meeting new students while getting to learn to sing like Disney Princesses. We will begin each class with healthy breathing and vocal exercises that encourage greater tone, projection, and confidence in your child's singing voice. Then we will watch a clip from our Disney song for the day and discuss what emotions that Disney Princess may be feeling so that we can be expressive when we sing the song, just like the princess is. We will continue to learn the song by going over it a few times slowly while I sing and accompany the learners on my harp. All the while, we will be talking about how to apply our new healthy singing habits and confidence to each section of this song. For example, if the chorus goes up higher in our voices and we're struggling to reach those notes, we will discuss how to relax and produce a resonant tone, and may even circle back to some of our vocal exercises that help us find that higher place in our voices. Discussion is encouraged throughout the class, especially when we are discussing the Disney Princess's emotions, or when anyone has questions or difficulties singing a certain part of the song. However, while we are all singing together, the students will be muted so that no one is confused by any delayed sound due to Zoom. They will only be able to hear me, the harp, and their own voice while we learn and perform the song. Here are the songs we will be learning: Day 1: Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid Day 2: Let It Go from Frozen Day 3: How Far I'll Go from Moana Other notes: Your child will be given a decorative, coloring sheet with the lyrics for each song. It is important that they know how to read so that they can follow along with the correct lyrics. However, they do not need to know how to read sheet music. They also must know how to mute and unmute themselves for this class.

Hi, my name is Mrs. Ruthie, and I am so excited to meet you!
I am a professional harpist and private music teacher living in West Tennessee, USA. I teach from my own music studio online and in-person, and I am thrilled to expand my studio onto the Outschool platform. In my studio, I specialize in teaching private piano, voice, and harp lessons. Here on Outschool, you will find my "Piano Lessons: Personalized for You!" for any age group, as well as fun, small group singing classes for young learners and teenagers.
Music has been in my life since I was very young, when I began learning the piano at the age of 4. I started studying the harp at age 11, receiving my Diploma in Harp Performance from the acclaimed Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) in 2018. I am an alumni of Union University in Tennessee where I studied harp, voice, and piano. I graduated with my Bachelor's of Music in Composition in 2020.
Along with my classical music studies, I have well-rounded experience participating in many different styles of music while playing the harp, piano, or being a vocalist. I have experience in lead roles in musical theater productions, have participated in high-level choral and A-Capella singing groups, lead music with the piano in contemporary and more traditional churches, and played my harp for countless events ranging from symphonies to private parties. And as much as I love performing, in the last year and a half, I have found that I LOVE teaching music. With over 40 weekly private students ranging from 4 year-olds to 70 year-olds, teaching the beauty of music to my diverse student base keeps me inspired everyday. I hope to inspire your learner to love playing music as much as I do.
