Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This club class is an ongoing format. Students will sketch a different Disney character every week. Each week is charged as a subscription on Sunday mornings. Students can join or leave the club any week. Prior attendance and knowledge of the subject is not required to attend.

Embark on a creative journey in our Disney Drawing Art Club! Each week will begin with a teacher led discussion or trivia on the current Disney movie of the month. Students will get to socialize, share their thoughts, theories and fun facts about the story and movie universe. Through a collaborative vote, students choose a character to draw, progressing each week by focusing on elements like line, shape, color, tone, and texture. They will be encouraged to put their own unique flair onto the characters. Students will enjoy this vibrant, sought-after class— a haven for Disney enthusiasts to socialize to exchange ideas and revel in a fun and upbeat atmosphere. Join us for an imaginative blend of artistry and Disney magic!

Each character sketch will follow the step-by-step process:
1. They will concentrate on rendering the basic shapes of the character in line only, then proceed to discover the various relationships between the lines, shapes and proportions of the image.
2. They will learn basic color theory by using a mixture of loose hatching and cross-hatching techniques to blend colors and apply some dark tones in order to create the form of the character.
3. They will modify the dark tones of the image by both strengthening and blending them with carefully graduated shading and layering.
4. The final step will be to unify the form, tones and texture of the image by deepening the shadows and increasing their contrast.
