Class Experience

This is a hands on lesson where students will discover how to find the area of parallelogram through cutting out rectangles and dividing them into pieces.  They will then use those pieces to form parallelograms.   I will focus on the characteristics of parallelogram including the definition and dimensions.  Students should come into this class with the previous knowledge of how to find the area of a rectangle. Students will compare/contrast characteristics of rectangles and parallelograms. ...

Student will learn how to find the area of a parallelogram.

  1 file available upon enrollment
A one page handout will be provided for this lesson that will need to printed out prior to the start of class. Required materials: scissors, blank white paper (printer paper), pencil, highlighter, glue stick.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
