Class Experience

The objects in our home can tell us a lot about our personality. In this class we will go on a hunt for objects that tell us something about our strengths.

Class will begin with a brief discussion of what a STRENGTH is.

Then, learners will be given a prompt for each item. I will give them 30 seconds to go find an object that fits the prompt and bring it back to the class. We will then have time for the students to show and describe their item and why it fits the prompt.*

Example: Find something that reminds you of a happy memory.
(Students may choose to find a souvenir from a trip, a stuffed animal they received as a present, etc.)

After the scavenger hunt, students will engage in a brief discussion where they will look at the 5-6 items they have amassed and consider what they can say about themselves. (For example, "I am smart and funny!") We will conclude by giving ourselves new "Super Strength Nicknames"!

I will remind the students not to touch things that don't belong to them... and to walk rather than run. I will also ask them to be respectful of their surroundings and the people in them. I will also ask them to put everything back in its place when class is over. Parental supervision is recommended!

*Note: In my classes, it is never a requirement that the children speak during the discussion portion. Active participation is always by choice. I will ask them to share, but let them know it is ok if they don't. They can learn just as much in the class as their peers, should they choose to simply observe.
