Beginner Level

In this eight-week beginner piano course, students will explore the basics of piano playing in a fun and interactive environment. Learners will develop foundational skills, including identifying notes, reading music, understanding rhythm, and playing simple songs. Each week introduces new concepts through engaging activities designed to build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music. Whether your child is brand new to piano or needs a refresher, this course provides the perfect start to their musical journey.

I use a variety of teaching methods to keep students engaged, including visual aids such as slides and sheet music, demonstrations of techniques on my own piano, interactive games and exercises tailored to each concept, and
encouragement for students to ask questions and share their progress.

Unit 1: Intro to Piano!

Lesson 1:

Getting to know the piano

 Overview of the piano keyboard (black and white keys, groups of 2s and 3s).
Introduction to finger numbers and hand positioning.
Learn simple patterns and exercises using the black keys.

Lesson 2:

Quarter Notes and Half Notes!

 Explanation of quarter notes, half notes, what a metronome is and how it's used, and we will learn songs reading these notes!

Lesson 3:

Old MacDonald had a SONG!

 Learn about whole notes, repeat signs, dynamics and learn to play Old MacDonald had a Song!

Lesson 4:

Meet the Musical Alphabet

 Introduction to the musical alphabet (A-G).
Finding and naming notes on the keyboard.
Playing simple songs using a few notes.
