US Grade 4 - 7
Intermediate - Advanced Level
In this class, the learner will read with me the first chapter (it is not very long) of Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. This opening chapter is quite famous, the writing is good literature and it is written beautifully. The learner will tell me what they believe the chapter is about, what has happened, who is narrating and what can be learned about the narrator and the narrator’s life from what the narrator says. I will ask the learner to tell me what various metaphors and similes mean, looking especially at higher level vocabulary. This class will be a discussion between me and the learner. I will ask questions to prompt the learner so that the learner will discover more for themselves in the lesson. All learners are welcome but ESL learners need to have an intermediate level of English for this class.
