In this one-time class, students will learn fun and interesting facts about one of the most popular and well known dinosaurs, the Tyrannosaurus Rex! We will begin the class by activating prior knowledge as we discuss what they already know about the T-Rex. We will then read the book, “I’m a T.Rex”. While reading the story, students will be encouraged to interact with the teacher via engaging questioning that will reinforce reading comprehension. We will learn about T-Rex’s teeth, what they ate, their size, where they lived, and what time period they were alive in. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Monica Scala and I am so excited to meet your learner! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Miami University and I currently hold a K-12 Intervention Specialist Teaching License. I have been a teacher for ten years! For seven of those years, I was a Special Education Teacher in a public school, teaching children in high school through kindergarten. The majority of my career, I focused primarily on lower elementary grades. For the past three years I have been teaching virtually and I absolutely love the online classroom!
With my background in Special Education, I have learned that all students learn in different ways. My teaching style is very interactive, I love to teach with movement, hands on activities, songs, and games.
I live in Cincinnati, Ohio with my husband and two children. I am a mother to a 4 year old little boy and a 1 year old daughter. In my free time you will find me outside; I love to hike, visit parks, and check out local farms.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have and make sure to follow my profile for upcoming classes. I can’t wait to meet you in my virtual classroom!
