Class Experience

Students will explore the Titanic and its' disaster. We will learn about steam engines, the different parts of the ship, what life was like aboard the ship, the different classes of passengers, the telegraph and Morse Code, all about icebergs, lifeboats, who got off the ship and in what order, being rescued by the Carpathia, and what artifacts have been brought up from the wreckage.
I have been an educator on Outschool since February of 2018. I have my MBA and MHA, both of which have taught me the value of conducting research and asking questions. I have a passion for history and learning. You can usually find me in the middle of 2-3 books or watching a documentary.
Week 1 - Worksheet (provided before class) and vocabulary sheet - Identify the different parts of the ship
Week 2 - Morse Code worksheet (provided before class), practice different words in Morse Code
Week 3 -Create our own newspaper front page
Week 4 - No Homework
Students should have their own copy of the book "What Was the Titanic?" by Stephanie Sabol.

All worksheets and printable's will be available on the classroom page the day before class. Students should have access to pencils, and either colored pencils or crayons.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
In this class, we will be discussing class systems (poor vs. rich) and how many people lost their lives.
There may be some Youtube videos that are seen during this class. I will share my screen and learners will not need to access them on their own.
