In this animal science class, students will learn facts about the physical characteristics, ocean habitat, diet, family, and conservation status of Sperm Whales, also known as the Cachalot, along with the opportunity to draw a whale.

Description
Class Experience
1. Students will learn facts about the physical characteristics of Sperm Whales such as size, features, diet and ocean habitat. 2. Students will learn how scientists use these characteristics to compare and classify a species such as the Sperm Whale. 3. Students will learn why conservation of Sperm Whales is important and what is being done to prevent the extinction of this species. 4. Students will also learn new vocabulary words related to the study of Sperm Whales and ocean science.
No homework, but your child may be interested in learning more facts about whales and conservation science while making additional drawings related to the topic of ocean animals.

Print Pack: (attached to the welcome message in the classroom and visible if you are logged in as the LEARNER) Contains two drawing templates to assist Learners. Note: A certificate and a Sperm Whale fact sheet will be sent as a separate download available after class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There is NO formal assessment for this class. Students will be learning concepts of animal science along with the opportunity to further develop their math, geography, vocabulary and creative thinking skills while learning about Sperm Whales and other ocean animals.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
