Class Experience

Steve Irwin was a legendary figure who wowed the world with his passion and devotion to crocodiles, poisonous snakes, and preserving natural wildlife. In this class, we will learn about the history of Australia and Steve Irwin, using the "Who Was Steve Irwin" by Dina Anastasio as a basis for our studies. It is not required to have this book for class, but some learners may find it useful to read along with each lesson.

In this 7 week class, we will learn:

Class 1 - Steve's childhood - his parents passion for animals, building the Beerwah Reptile Park
Class 2 - A look at crocodiles, reptiles, and other animals found in Australia
Class 3 - Learning to catch and relocate crocodiles
Class 4 - Meeting Terri; Filming the pilot for The Crocodile Hunter
Class 5 - The world meets the Crocodile Hunter; The different tv shows; The Zoo expands
Class 6 - Steve's unfortunate accident; How the world mourned his loss
Class 7 - How his family carries on with Steve's legacy with the Wildlife Warrior and the Australian Zoo; Students will close out the class with a Kahoot trivia game on different animals
