Class Experience

In this ongoing class, we will practice recognizing the different letters/sounds in the alphabet. We will then practice segmenting the different sounds we hear in words to build the learner's phonological awareness. This will help the student be more prepared to read. During each class, we will play a letter practice game that allows students to truly master their letters. We will then practice identifying the different sounds in words we hear. The teacher will show a word and then we will count out each sound and say the word together.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Audrey, and I am so glad to be here and am excited to share a little about me. I love learning and teaching. Every day is a day to learn something new no matter how old we are.

I attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri earning a bachelors in elementary education with an emphasis in early child. I then went back to school and received my bachelor's in communication science disorders which allows me to be a speech therapist assistant.

✔️5 years substituting teaching
✔️1 year student teaching
✔️1 year kindergarten teacher
✔️1 year preschool teacher
✔️3 years ESL teacher for VipKid
✔️5 years homeschool tutor

My classes are developed to help students have the foundational skills to become lifelong learners. Also, there are classes that are developed to help students to build on their desires and passions, so they can meet their goals.

I believe every learner has the opportunity to learn if they have a good attitude and the right environment. The environment makes a big difference on the learner's attitude. In my classes, I always engage as many senses as possible, since research shows that stronger neural pathways are formed when more senses are engaged! Students also take control of their own learning by asking questions and sharing what they know.

I am more a facilitator and try help where is needed and ask engaging questions.

Some fun facts about me include a love for outdoors, spending time with family, and reading. Alex, my dog, looks like a fox. I always like to learn something new and now I am learning to play the piano.
