Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
In this Flex class, students will learn multiplication using multiple multiplication strategies.

This course will explore multiplication fact families 1-12 in 6 weeks. We will make it fun by using a bubble pop fidget and other manipulative to learn the fundamental concept of multiplication.

Students will learn multiple strategies for solving the problems including the commutative property of multiplication, repeated addition strategy, groups strategy and using arrays to solve multiplication problems.

Week 1- 1s and 2s
Week 2- 5s and 10s
Week 3- 3s and 6s
Week 4- 4s and 8s
Week 5- 9s and 11s
Week 6- 7s and 12s

Weekly Lessons:
Each week I will provide two videos, one video on each fact family, explaining how students can solve each multiplication problem using 4 methods.

I will provide an additional two videos each week that shows how they can solve multiplication problems using a bubble pop fidget.

Interaction in this Flex Class:
Students will receive links to virtual multiplication games that they can play.

Each week students will be prompted to share pictures to the classroom of any problems that they have solved using manipulatives.

Each week students will receive worksheets with multiplication problems that they will turn in to the teacher by the end of the week. The teacher will check and provide feedback on these worksheets.

At the end of the course, the teacher will share a final assessment that learners can complete.

Supplies:
Students can use manipulative from around the house. The teacher uses candy in class and they are welcome to use candy, beans, rice, pennies, or any similar small object.

Students can use a bubble pop fidget if they have one. If they don’t have one, it is not required. I have included a link to the one that I recommend in the supply list below. If you would like to use a fidget worksheet, one will be provided in the classroom.

This is a Flex class; therefore, there will be no live meetings. Lessons will be provided via video recording.
