US Grade 3
In this engaging and interactive course, students will develop a solid understanding of multiplication and division concepts and operations. Over the course of eight weeks, students will explore and master multiplication tables for numbers 3 through 10, as well as learn division facts for the same numbers. Through a combination of hands-on activities, problem-solving exercises, and interactive learning, students will gain fluency in multiplication and division and build a strong foundation for future mathematical success. Week 1: Multiplication 3s & Divided by 3 Students will dive into the world of multiplication by focusing on the 3s times tables. They will learn strategies to memorize these multiplication facts and apply them in various problem-solving scenarios. Additionally, students will explore the concept of division by dividing numbers by 3, understanding the relationship between multiplication and division. Week 2: Multiplication 4s & Divided by 4 This week, students will expand their multiplication skills to the 4s times tables. They will discover patterns within these multiplication facts and develop strategies to solve problems efficiently. Furthermore, students will explore division by dividing numbers by 4, reinforcing their understanding of the inverse relationship between multiplication and division. Week 3: Multiplication 5s & Divided by 5 In Week 3, students will tackle the 5s times tables. They will explore various techniques to master these facts, such as skip counting and visual representations. Students will also deepen their understanding of division as they divide numbers by 5, reinforcing their knowledge of the inverse operations. Week 4: Multiplication 6s & Divided by 6 The focus of this week will be on the 6s times tables. Students will engage in activities and games to reinforce these multiplication facts and develop strategies to solve problems efficiently. Additionally, they will extend their understanding of division by dividing numbers by 6, solidifying their grasp of the relationship between multiplication and division. Week 5: Multiplication 7s & Divided by 7 Week 5 brings an exploration of the 7s times tables. Students will discover patterns and strategies to memorize these multiplication facts, applying their knowledge in a variety of problem-solving situations. Furthermore, they will deepen their understanding of division by dividing numbers by 7, reinforcing the inverse relationship. Week 6: Multiplication 8s & Divided by 8 Students will delve into the 8s times tables in Week 6. They will explore different techniques to master these multiplication facts and develop strategies to solve problems efficiently. Additionally, they will extend their understanding of division by dividing numbers by 8, strengthening their comprehension of the relationship between multiplication and division. Week 7: Multiplication 9s & Divided by 9 This week will focus on the 9s times tables. Students will analyze patterns, use manipulatives, and engage in interactive activities to solidify their understanding of these multiplication facts. Moreover, they will deepen their knowledge of division by dividing numbers by 9, further emphasizing the connection between multiplication and division. Week 8: Multiplication 10s & Divided by 10 In the final week, students will explore the 10s times tables, the culmination of their multiplication journey. They will consolidate their understanding of these multiplication facts through a variety of exercises and games. Furthermore, students will deepen their understanding of division by dividing numbers by 10, reinforcing their knowledge of the inverse relationship between multiplication and division. Throughout the course, students will engage in frequent practices and problem-solving tasks to reinforce their learning. They will develop mental math strategies, improve their computational fluency, and gain confidence in solving multiplication and division problems. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in multiplication and division, setting them up for success in their mathematical journey. Interaction in this Flex Class: Students will receive links to virtual games that they can play. Each week students will be prompted to share pictures to the classroom of any problems that they have solved using manipulatives. Each week students will receive worksheets with time problems that they will turn in to the teacher by the end of the week. The teacher will check and provide feedback on these worksheets. This is a Flex class; therefore, there will be no live meetings. Lessons will be provided via video recording.
