45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
The class will start with a chat about what students know about DNA. It is totally fine if they have never heard of it! We discuss what DNA is, its structure, why it is important and where it is. Then we perform a DNA extraction experiment to see DNA in real life! Students are welcome to do the experiment with me (a list of materials is listed below) or just watch me do it. Students will have a chance to ask questions. My teaching style is collaborative and I would like every child who is keen, to take part. If a child prefers to observe in silence, that's fine too! If you have a young scientist who is younger than 10, I have another DNA class for younger students.
Learning Goals
Students will learn what DNA is, its function and basic structure.
