In this 3- day camp, students who are new to the game of chess (little or no prior knowledge of chess) can meet and learn with other players about the basics of chess and how to move all the pieces by the end of the week, plus build a really cool art and building bricks project! Special Note: The 55 min class moves quickly and slight use of technology is a part of the experience (clicking on a hyperlink in the Zoom chat). We'll use a variety of resources, and will also learn about chess...
Students will learn the basics of being a great chess player and will be able to know basic chess terms, the pieces, and how they move on the chess board, plus what is check by the end of camp.
None required. Optional chess activities to keep learning!
Optional Chess Board
2 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This camp is for true beginners. We will use Zoom features in this camp, and use online resources to enhance the experience. If your student is not comfortable with their device or technology, parent assistance will be required. The camp must have at least 6 students for a good experience. Since this is a camp, we will cover a lot in a short amount of time. The learning experience will move at a different pace than my weekly chess classes. If you are looking for a true scholastic experience, a semester class may be ideal.
