In this creative chess class, students with chess experience will learn more about checkmate and strategy including basic tactics and about the three phases of the chess game, including opening games. Students at this level of chess are simply eager to play with others, and learn how to win their games. They have working knowledge of common chess topics having been exposed through various learning environments, including school, clubs, online classrooms, apps, as well as from parents and...
Players will learn how to become more confident with how the pieces move on the board using better openings, learn common checkmates, and basic tactics like the fork, pin, and skewer. Plus get comfortable using online chess resources.

Players will get feedback on their games during regular play.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
For students who are not device savvy, parental guidance may be necessary although the teacher will provide support and training on how to use the online chess resource, Lichess.
