This is a flexible schedule course, meaning that it does not have live synchronous sessions. The student will be supported by the teacher with frequent communication through Outschool messaging and posts. Each week the teacher will post assignments and links to instructional videos and other assignments. At any time, the student can message the teacher through Outschool to ask questions or seek clarification. This is the first course in a 4-course series that covers all the major Chemistry topics through a sequence of learner-centered, inquiry-based, and teacher-supported activities that use models, investigative questioning, and mathematical relationships to help you discover the wonderful world of Chemistry. It is a unique and fun way to learn. No textbook required. The provided activities guide you to learn the concepts and the teacher instruction will complement and support the discovery process. The inquiry activities are used with permission from The POGIL Project. In addition to teaching the Unit 1 topics, the Unit 1 course will teach you how to approach the inquiry activities to optimize your learning. Topics for this course - Unit 1: Unit 1 (This course - an introductory course with lots of interactivity with other students and teacher): Introduction to Chemistry: Week 1: Topic: Fundamentals of Experimental Design Activity: Inquiry worksheet on the topic of Experimental Design Solutions: Teacher-provided instructional videos that explain the inquiry worksheet and answer the assessment questions. Week 2: Topic: Organizing Data Activity: Inquiry worksheet on the topic of Experimental Design Solutions: Teacher-provided instructional videos that explain the inquiry worksheet and answer the assessment questions. Week 3: Topic: Significant Digits and Measurement & Significant Zeros Activity: Inquiry worksheet on the topic of Experimental Design Solutions: Teacher-provided instructional videos that explain the inquiry worksheet and answer the assessment questions. Week 4: Topic: Classification of Matter Activity: Inquiry worksheet on the topic of Experimental Design Solutions: Teacher-provided instructional videos that explain the inquiry worksheet and answer the assessment questions. There are three other courses that follow this one. It is highly recommended to take the courses in order of Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit 3, and then Unit 4. Each unit will provide important knowledge for the next unit. Units 2, 3, and 4 are separate courses that you will have to enroll in separately.

Learning is so much fun and helping others learn is a passion of mine.
I have been teaching professionally for over 25 years. I have been very fortunate to have taught in four different countries in public, private, and online schools. My experience has allowed me to develop different teaching approaches, appreciate different learning styles, and acquire a portfolio of solid best practices to help you learn the subject material.
We all can learn, and we all want to learn. Sometimes support, direction, and instruction is needed for optimal understanding. I can provide that. I enjoy teaching and would love to help you.
I keep learning. Presently, I am trying to retain my French and Spanish, learn some Korean, and have gained a keen interest in learning how to code. It keeps my mind active.
Join me and we can learn together. I look forward to working with you.
