2 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this 4-week class, learners will have a chance to draw four different household pets, learn fun facts, kid-friendly animals jokes, and animal trivia. The class will begin with an icebreaker to help learners feel comfortable and get to know each other. After the icebreaker, we will learn a fun fact, joke, or trivia about the animal we are drawing. I will provide step-by-step directions during class using simple shapes and lines to draw cartoon-type animals. I will use an overhead document camera and share my screen, so each learner is able to see the instructions clearly. After we have finished drawing learners are welcome to add background details and color their picture if they would like to. If time allows, learners will have a chance to share their drawings with everyone. This is encouraged, however, NOT REQUIRED. I understand each learner will have a different comfort level when it comes to sharing their work and that’s okay! My goal is to create an encouraging and positive classroom environment where each learner feels comfortable to be themselves and most importantly HAVE FUN drawing! Please make sure your learner comes to class with drawing materials. Materials should include 2-3 sheets of plain paper and something to draw with. I recommend a pencil in case they make a mistake and would like to erase it; however, crayons, markers, or colored pencils will also work great. Below is a breakdown of the class framework and weekly drawing schedule. Weekly Drawings: Week 1: dog Week 2: cat Week 3: fish Week 4: hamster Class Framework: -Introductions -Ice breaker -Fun facts/joke/trivia -Sharing (if time allows)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and welcome! I am a work-from-home mom with two kids ages 5 and 8, a cat, and a parrot! I love reading, baking and doing arts and crafts with my kid's, board games, backpacking, spending time with family, and teaching. I am so excited to be teaching on Outschool!
I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus on behavior and a master’s degree in Special Education. I have over 15 years of experience working in the school setting as well as teaching online. I have worked with students that have a wide range of needs from ages 3-16, taught preschool, provided individual tutoring, as well as homeschooling my own children for a year. I also have 4 years of experience teaching online. Throughout my career, I have taught all aspects of elementary education. I have run social skills groups to help students identify emotions and build social skills that can be applied in their everyday life. I have taught a full preschool curriculum, run reading and math intervention groups, and taught English as a Second Language for 4 years.
I believe that no student learns the same way. It is important for teachers to be able to accommodate multiple learning styles so each learner can reach their full potential. The goal I have for my Outschool classes is to create an encouraging, fun, and engaging learning environment where all learners feel welcome and excited to learn. I look forward to seeing your child in class!
