US Grade 2 - 4
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In each class we work with vowel sounds, segmentation and blending, simple spelling words, phrases and 1-2 sentences. Then we end with reading a decodable text. This remedial class provides students with direct instruction to improve their reading skills. Learners will practice what they learn in a fun, and encouraging learning environment. Background knowledge needed to succeed in this class: *Know the alphabet *Familiarity with the primary 5 vowels *Familiarity with CVC and CVCe patterns This session is geared to provide phonemic awareness and spelling support to students who struggle to read. I apply the Orton-Gillingham approach to address the reading areas of need in a structured, explicitly taught fun learning environment. Students learn through visual cues, make connections and share in discussions to understand the reading concept. Please see the syllabus for more details. This group class is to help learners get the attention and reinforcement they need to close their foundational academic gaps and build their reading confidence.
