Dinosaurs Rock celebrates its 20th year in science educaticonducted school assemblies, camp programs, private birthday parties and public events at venues like the Bronx Zoo and Newark Museum. Each class has an exciting theme, linked to our core subject, DINOSAURS. Here is an outline of course content by week: Day 1 - DINOSAURS & FOSSILS. Learn amazing facts about dinosaurs via visual demos of incredible life-size and genuine museum quality specimens up close. We'll cover a variety of dinosaurs such as t-rex, Brachiosaurus, Raptors and view giant dinosaur footprints, eggs, claws, teeth and more. Day 2- DINOSAURS, SHARKS & PREHISTORIC SEAS. We'll answer key questions like, Did Dinosaurs ever swim? And, were sharks swimming the oceans when Dinosaurs were alive? We'll explore facts about the popular Megalodon Shark, the largest extinct shark that ever lived. Discover amazing facts about the oceans and unique sea creatures like sharks, giant crabs, prehistoric sea creatures and the megalodon shark. Day 3 - GEMS, GEODES & VOLCANOES. Explore the role that volcanoes played in the extinction of dinosaurs and learn what the earth loooked like 65-over 250 million years ago. Learn cool facts about 100 million year-old rocks, minerals and gemstones. Day 4 - PREHISTORIC INSECTS - It's an up-close look at some of the coolest (and grossest) insects you've ever seen. Learn fun prehistoric insect facts plus we'll cover insect defense, camaflouge, metamorphosis and more. Day 5 - DINOSAURS IN SPACE, METEORITES AND ROCKETS. Learn about the theory of extinction involving the meteorite actually ended the reign of the dinosaurs? Learn about different types of Meteorites and other mass extinctions. We'll talk about whether Dinosaurs ever travel to space? The answer might surprise you!
Learning Goals
We aim to spark kids' innate curiosity about a wide range of science topics during this 5-day class. With a DINOSAURS ROCK expert utilizing visual demos with museum-quality specimens, the class will draw students in and engage them throughout. We maintain a high level of interactivity by asking questions of students throughout each program and asking them to submit questions prior to each class that they would like touched upon about each topic. We are happy to answer individual questions after the class through messaging as well.
