Class Experience

We will explore how to draw the profile view of a Tyrannosaurus rex skull in this one-time art class. Students will learn how to think three-dimensionally to help with drawing proportions and adding appropriate values to achieve realistic shadows.

Students will be taught through guided-demonstrations, where they'll observe the teacher then complete the step(s) on their own papers. Students will start their drawing off by blocking in areas of the skull, adding more intricate details, and finally shading with their pencils to create contrast.

Students may ask questions as needed throughout the class. At the end of the lesson, students are encouraged to share their artwork with the class.

*No prior knowledge/experience is required

Hello parents and students!

I love to use a variety of media to keep the creating process fun and exciting. Some of the media we will use are: pencils, markers, crayons, colored pencils, oil and chalk pastels, acrylic paint, watercolors, pen, and more!

I graduated in 2014 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BSED in Art Education and a Dance Minor in Choreography. I have experience teaching every grade level from Pre-K through 12th grade in both Kansas and Texas. Some of the courses I have taught are: Elementary Art, Drawing and Painting, Sculpture and Ceramics, and also Intro to Art. This is my 8th year teaching art in a public school setting.

Scaffolding the necessary skills for learning art such as problem-solving, collaborating, and self-reflecting are woven intricately into my teaching. When producing my own artwork, I often find inspiration in flowers/nature.

I also have two large Newfoundland dogs (Bruin & Orso) and love to take them for walks when I am not busy teaching. You might even see them say "Hello!" during a class or two! I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!

"Creativity takes courage." -Henri Matisse.
