Class Experience

For this class, students can bring a favorite
dinosaur item that they'd like to share with the other students. It can be any dinosaur item that is special to the student (toy, picture, collectible, etc). Each student will be given a chance to practice his/her speaking skills by talking about the item. The teacher will ask guiding questions and a dinosaur-themed visual prop will be used to help the students organize their thoughts about what to say. Students can expect to be asked questions such as
"What does it do?/What do you do with it?"
"What is it made of?"
"Where did you get it?"

Students will also be allowed to ask questions about each other's dinosaur items. The teacher will use this time to help students understand what a question is/how to properly ask a question. If there is extra time, the students can show another dinosaur item and/or the teacher will read a dinosaur book.

I try to incorporate hands-on learning as much as possible through a student-centered approach. My goal in my classes is to have my students play an active role in their learning. I have been married to my husband for 11 years. We have a 7-year-old daughter, a 3-year-old daughter, a 1-year-old son, a dog, and a rabbit! I love to teach!
