Dinosaur Phonics - PART ONE

Projects
1 hour per week. Learners will have access to learning games that will give them ample opportunities to practice emerging reading skills.
Grading
I will share my observations and anecdotal stories of each learner. They will be available upon request.

Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Beginner Level
This class takes what we know to be best practices in reading instruction and combines it with the love of dinosaurs. Through multisensory strategies and interactive activities, the students explore art, music, science, movement, games, videos, and reading to learn. Our learning experience is a shared experience where learners can take risks, and the teacher can respond and adapt to what best suits each learner
Learning Goals
Students should demonstrate an understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds. They should be able to; 
* recognize and produce rhyming words
* count, produce, blend, and segment words
* Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial, and final sounds.

Unit 1: Phonological Awareness
Lesson 1:
Dinosaurs A-Z / word awareness
 We will learn our class routine and meet each other in this class. We will discuss how letters make sounds and sounds make words and explore words and syllables. We will talk about dinosaurs and what we are interested in learning.

Lesson 2:
Where did the dinosaurs come from? / syllables
 In this class,  we will explore the origin of dinosaurs. Where did they come from? We will continue to listen to the beats of sounds in the dinosaur names. We will continue using art, music, and stories to practice our phonic skills.

Lesson 3:
Different types of Dinosaurs / Onset-rime
 Today, we will learn about different types of dinosaurs and continue practicing our phonic skills using art, music, and stories.

Lesson 4:
Where did the dinosaurs live? / Time for rhyme.
 We will continue working with sounds. Time for rhyme: In this class, we will practice listening to sounds that sound the same at the end of words. We will also have fun drawing and learning new songs. We will continue practicing our phonic skills using art, music, and stories.

Learning Needs
All learners are welcome! Great care has gone into creating a multisensory curriculum that appeals to various learners. The curriculum uses art, music, movement, and hands-on learning activities, allowing all children to participate.
Parental Guidance
Dinosaurs were fierce. Care has gone into developing thoughtful materials minus violent representations
