Dinosaur Guided Reading: Long I Sounds (i, y, ie, igh)
In this 2-week class, we will focus on identifying and reading the long i sounds (i, ie, y, and igh) in words, sentences, and short paragraphs. I will use a variety of interactive activities and books to emphasize the long I sound.

I will teach Dinosaur Guided Reading using a variety of visuals and online books. I keep children engaged and excited to participate throughout the lesson. In this class we will share my screen to look at long I words together using pictures, matching exercises, and short phrases/sentences. We will then do some guided reading with books along with interactive activities, puzzles, and short comprehension type questions to keep kids engaged in the lesson. I love to have fun teaching children to love reading with me! We will read Dinosaur books together with a fun interactive reading book featuring the long I sound. I also love to keep kids engaged with encouragement and online reward systems to help them feel successful as they are having fun learning to read.
Learning Goals
We will focus on learning the long I sounds in words, sentences, and paragraphs. We will read two short books on Dinosaurs. There is also opportunity for a short focus on reading comprehension. Students will improve their reading and fluency skills in learning to identify the long I sounds in all its different forms when reading.
