UPDATE: Ms. Carissa is currently on a teaching hiatus. If you'd like to connect, send a message by clicking the "Ask me a question" button! Dinosaurs come to life...literally! Using a little paleo-magic, we'll meet Georgia the baby Triceratops and learn all about what her life was like millions of years ago! Georgia will bellow a friendly "hello" to each student and young learners will have a blast from the past as they interact with and take part in a virtual feeding session with their new ceratopsian friend. We'll work together to match up some common household objects to the Triceratops' amazingly adapted body parts, from their horned brows to their scaly tails! Through interactions with our new friend, pictures, real and model fossils, and an art activity, we will answer the following questions: -How do paleontologists tell fossilized bones apart from regular rocks? -Why are Triceratops teeth some of the most interesting of all the dinosaurs? -What did the Triceratops like to eat? -What common objects from our own lives can we compare to the Triceratops' different body parts?
Learning Goals
This class is designed to both educate and entertain young dinosaur enthusiasts. We will learn some fascinating facts about the Triceratops during this interactive session, including when/where this dinosaur lived, what it ate, how its teeth, beak, and other body parts were specially adapted to help it thrive, and much more, making this a great introduction to the Triceratops genus for curious learners. By using a multi-faceted approach with pictures, facts, fossils, an art project, and interactive, play-based activities with the "live" dinosaur, there's something here to enchant all types of learners.
