Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this exciting and interactive class, young paleontologists will travel back in time to explore the world of dinosaurs! Through engaging stories, hands-on activities, and virtual “digs,” students will learn about different dinosaur species, fossils, and how scientists uncover prehistoric secrets. Each class will feature fun facts, creative challenges, and even a chance to “design” their own dinosaur!

Learning Goals

Identify and describe different types of dinosaurs and their characteristics.
Understand how fossils are formed and what they teach us about prehistoric life.

Syllabus

5 Lessons
over 5 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Welcome to the World of Dinosaurs!
Students will learn what makes a dinosaur a dinosaur, when and where they lived, and how they were different from today’s animals. We’ll discuss herbivores vs. carnivores and play an interactive game called “Dinosaur Fact or Fiction.” Students will also draw or describe their favorite dinosaur to start building their detective skills!
40 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Meet the Mighty Dinosaurs
We’ll meet some of the most famous dinosaurs, from the towering T. rex to the gentle Brachiosaurus. We’ll explore how scientists classify dinosaurs based on their features and diet. Students will play a fun movement game, “Dinosaur Walk,” where they mimic how different dinosaurs moved. Then, they’ll create their own dino footprint fossil using clay or playdough!
40 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Fossil Hunters – How Do We Know About Dinosaurs?
This week, we’ll become fossil hunters and learn about how fossils form, what they tell us, and how paleontologists dig them up. Students will participate in a mini virtual “fossil dig” using simple materials at home. They’ll also get to imagine and share what it would be like to discover a brand-new dinosaur!
40 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Prehistoric Mysteries – Extinction and Discoveries
What happened to the dinosaurs? We’ll explore different extinction theories, including the asteroid impact and volcanic eruptions. Students will also learn about modern-day animals that are related to dinosaurs. The highlight of this class is the “Design Your Own Dinosaur” challenge—students will create a brand-new species with its own name, habitat, and special features!
