Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Do you have a young paleontologist or a dinosaur lover? Then they will love learning about the different time periods of the Mesozoic Era or the Age of Dinosaurs! In this three-day summer camp, kids will adventure through the three different time periods that make up the Mesozoic Era the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. We will spend one day exploring each time period looking at what fantastic prehistoric creatures lived at each stage, what the world looked like, and other fun facts to gain a deeper understanding of the overall Age of Dinosaurs. Can you name a Triassic dinosaur? Most people can't because we only talk about the larger more famous dinosaurs that came later in the Mesozoic Era.

Since the class, is focused on letting kids explore their curiosity and love of prehistorical animals, students will be encouraged to share their knowledge and to ask lots of questions to discover new revelations about these amazing creatures. I believe students learn best when having fun in a supportive environment that encourages them to express their thoughts and opinions.

The class will be done as a multimedia presentation and will introduce students to the different periods of the Mesozoic Era. I will also use short video clips and sound when available. At the end of the class, we will talk about what the students have learned and what they liked the most if time allows.

Students are welcome to bring their favorite fossils or replicas, dinosaurs toy, or photos, to share with the class. Snacks are welcome too.

This camp will require at least three students to be enrolled for the class to be held. If not enough students have enrolled I will inform the parents in advance that the class will not be held due to a lack of students.

Day One: Triassic
Day Two: Jurassic
Day Three: Cretaceous.

Parental Guidance

We will be talking about large Prehistoric predators in this class. We will cover topics like what they ate, how they hunted, killed, and how large they got. This could include images or short clips of animals attacking other animals with the goal to kill them, while I will not display any gruesome images, the content could possibly be scary to some children.

Hello everyone! I am so happy to be teaching at Outschool. My first goal is to create an engaging and fun environment that will help foster a genuine love for learning. My passion is to help students discover what they want to learn about whether or not it is academic.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences and have been working with school-age children for over nine years. I started working as a Youth Advocate where I taught students’ academic, social, and communication skills. This is where I fell in love with teaching kids by accident and realized how life-altering a true interest in learning anything can be. Since then I’ve worked with an after-school program in which I got the joy of instructing large groups of students in creating various arts, crafts, and science projects. Last, I spent five years teaching as a Paraeducator with higher needs students for a local elementary school before going freelance this year as an ESL teacher. My years in the classroom have made me comfortable teaching academic (math, reading, writing), behavioral, and social skills.

Outside of the classroom, I spend my time doing art, writing, hanging out with my family, and playing with my crazy ferrets. My parent also developed a curiosity about the natural world throughout my childhood I spent many days at museums, camping, and outdoors in my youth. That is why I often spend a considerable amount of my free time reading about animals, dinosaurs, and other prehistorical creatures. As a lifelong learner, I spend far too much learning about various topics in many fields including psychology, sociology, and other fields related to social sciences. I hope one day to get my Master’s in Social Sciences and teach at a college.
