Digitally Paint a Botanical Monogram Using Your iPad and Procreate App
Learn to use the Procreate App on your iPad to digitally paint a beautiful monogram with botanical elements. This class will be suitable for artists with beginner-level exposure to Procreate. We will review fundamental skills at a fairly quick pace before diving into our project.

Description
Class Experience
Learners may want to spend more time after our class to continue to work on their project until they decide that they are 100% finished to their satisfaction. It is common practice for artists to come back to their artwork after a period of time away from it to assess, add more details, or make changes. We are covering a lot of skills in this class so they may use this knowledge to further create in Procreate outside of class time.
1) This is a Procreate app class that requires an iPadOS tablet 13.2 or later, with an Apple Pencil. The app is available on the App Store for $9.99. Please have the app installed and open for your learner before class begins. Make sure the tablet and pencil are fully charged. While you can draw with your finger, only the Apple Pencil will perform with the best pressure-sensitive properties. Another stylus brand may or may not work very well with this app. If you are unsure, please test in advance of the class. Please note, that your model of iPad will determine which Apple Pencil should be paired with it. If you are unsure, please contact Apple support. 2) I encourage students to have their Zoom class open on a second device, such as a computer, phone, or second iPad. It would be difficult to see the demonstrations and interact with the other students, while also trying to use the Procreate app, on the same iPad. 3) Please gather photos of plants, flowers, berries, ferns, fruits, and vegetables that they like with which to reference for drawing. These can be found online, in magazines, books, or even in photos from your own garden or neighborhood.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
- Procreate app
- Apple Pencil
- iPadOS Tablet 13.2 or later
There are no assessments in this class, only encouragement!
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I recommend that students have photos of their favorite botanicals gathered before the class begins for drawing reference. This can include plants, branches, flowers, fruit, berries, and even vegetables!
