Class Experience

Intermediate Level
In this advanced digital art class, students will explore the world of watercolor painting through the lens of Procreate. Designed for high school students who are already proficient in Procreate, this course delves into the application of traditional watercolor techniques in a digital environment. Over four weeks, students will learn to master the art of creating transparent, layered watercolor effects that mimic the fluidity and vibrancy of traditional media. Each week, they will build on foundational skills, from understanding flat washes and value scales to applying complex color theory, culminating in a final project that showcases their newfound expertise.

This 4-week course is structured around weekly projects that build upon foundational digital watercolor techniques. Students will learn how to create various watercolor effects, explore color theory, and experiment with light and shadow to bring their digital artwork to life. Each class will include live demonstrations, step-by-step guidance, and opportunities for feedback and critique to support every student’s growth.

The class encourages a creative and supportive environment, where students will implement taught techniques weekly. By the end of the course, students will have developed a deeper understanding of digital watercolor and created a range of artworks showcasing their skills and creativity.

Reminder: The class will be interactive, with live demonstrations, step-by-step guidance, and plenty of opportunities for individual feedback and critique. My teaching style is supportive and detail-oriented, ensuring that each student understands the techniques and can apply them confidently. Students will be encouraged to experiment and express their creativity while adhering to the principles of traditional watercolor painting.

By the end of this course, students will not only have a deep understanding of how to emulate traditional watercolors digitally but also a portfolio of work that demonstrates their ability to blend classic art techniques with modern digital tools.
