Description
Class Experience
This multi-day class covers various aspects of cameras and digital photography. We'll start with a class with introductions, what we want to photograph, etc., then move to camera basics where we discuss types of cameras, types of mounts, functions, how to use the functions, and types of lenses. In week 2, we'll cover shutter speed, Aperture, and ISO and how to control light, depth of field, and motion in the pictures with them. In week 3, we'll cover Rule of Thirds and various other...
The goal of this class is to teach students basics of photography, how cameras work, and different types of digital cameras.
Each learner will need to take pictures each week and show them the next week. Feedback will be given by the teacher and can be given by other learners. The following weekly photo activities will help the learners practice what we've gone over and have fun. Week 1 - Something I have I enjoy photographing (for me, it's vintage cameras like the one in the class picture.) Week 2 - Fast and close. Photograph people, pets, or vehicles moving at different speeds and adjust the shutter accordingly. Photograph objects or people changing the aperture to change the depth of field. Week 3 - Take pictures using at least two different compositions. Take 5 pictures using different compositions. Week 4 - Take pictures using black & white and color. Have some that would look better in B&W, some better in color, and some that could go either way. Week 5 - Photograph something you or your family have that you think is really interesting. Maybe an antique car, an old radio, an award winning horse, anything you think would be really cool. Week 6 - Let's show our favorite pictures and first and last pictures. We can show pictures from when class started and ended to see progression and also some of your favorites that you've taken.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
