Digital Microscope Mystery
Class experience
In this class we will answer the question, "What's on the slide?" Many things are too small to see without the use of the microscope. -Students will be able to analyze a given slide and compare it's primary attributes with other slides. -Critical thinking skills will be honed as students make observations and inferences. -There will be opportunities for creativity as students draw or make models of what they see in the slides. -Students will know the essential features and functions of various plants, animals, microbes, fungi, algae and even the human body.
During my time working in Montessori schools I was given the opportunity to design and implement a summer camp program that integrated scientific and cultural exploration with hands-on projects. It was a joy to teach and assist my students as they conquered these previously uncharted territories and I am only too happy to replicate that adventure here on Outschool. I have taken various college level science courses. During my Montessori teacher training we were given training on how to introduce children to microscopes and foster their own independent explorations.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
We will see cells and possible dead insect specimens.
