US Grade 6 - 9
In this ongoing club, students will come together in a social setting to share their love of digital handlettering with the application, Procreate. As this is a club, there will not be formal lessons, but more a time to discuss certain handlettering skills, tips, and tricks and put them into action. **Please keep all ideas and creations appropriate for class!** Topics Covered: Handlettering ideas and creations using Procreate For the first sessions, our class will have loose themes that we will use as our guide for style creation. Weekly themes will be posted in advance in the classroom. Class Structure: Informal, Students are encouraged to come with ideas of what they'd like to create and for what purpose. For example, a student might want to make a handlettered quote for social media and another student may want to create a printable to frame in their room. They are all encouraged to share their ideas and tips with other students in the class. Teaching Style: I believe that all students should feel like their ideas are being heard. In this club, I want to cultivate a space for students to come and share their creative ideas. As a teacher, I believe collaboration with my students is incredibly important, and I strive for a classroom atmosphere that reflects this. Interaction: Students will interact with the teacher and each other as they create their handlettered pieces. I will be interacting with students at the beginning of each session to check in on their ideas and goals for the class. Required Experience: Some knowledge of handlettering and the app Procreate is expected. If a student is a novice, please let me know before class via message on here and I will accommodate as needed.
Learning Goals
Students will have individual goals that they may set themselves. For some students, it may be the basics of handlettering, for other students, it may be more advanced techniques to grow their skills. I will discuss goals with each student during the club session to help direct them.
Example sessions may include:
Week 1: Galaxy backgrounds or letters
Week 2: Florals
Week 3: Spraypaint Splatter
Week 4: Mixed Styles
These are the themes for upcoming weeks of classes. We will use these as our guide for content creation. Come with some loose ideas of what you'd like to do or learn within these themes.
