Class Experience

In this digitally do-able camp, students will be taught to use the graphic design platform Canva!

DAY #1: Notable Quotes
-After a brief overview on how to navigate Canva, students will be guided through the use of text, backgrounds, and frames.

DAY #2: Picture Perfect
-Students will utilize design tools to highlight a photograph or create a photo collage.

Day #3: Movin' & Groovin'
-Students will synthesize their knowledge to create a design with moving pieces, to be posted as a GIF or video.

Students will be required to create their own FREE personal accounts in Canva, but we will NOT be accessing any social media accounts during class. Camp will involve the creation of 3 original designs, but students will leave camp with the ability to produce attention-grabbing quotes and graphics for all of their digital design needs! This camp will meet via live video meetings, three times in one week.

Parental Guidance
While the content created for this class is designed and formatted specifically for use on Instagram, we will NOT be posting or accessing Instagram in any way during class. Students will be instructed to keep their social media information to themselves; this class is solely for the purpose of creating content. While this camp utilizes Canva's FREE program, students will be required to have an account to log in. A parent account is more than fine should you prefer. Accounts can be linked to a Google, Facebook, or email account. A note on age from Canva - "Eligibility...You must be 13 years old or older to use or access the Service, unless you are under 13 years old and your use of the Service is directly supervised by your parent or guardian or another authorized adult (e.g., a teacher) who agrees to be bound by this Agreement..." Hello! I'm Alex, and I have spent the last decade serving a variety of roles within the world of education. Outside of teaching on Outschool, I am also a curriculum creator and education consultant. I am committed to personalized, dedicated, engaging education. I've had the honor of working with hundreds of students, and my original curriculum has reached thousands more. I have worked with a diverse range of students from 4-18 years and hope your student is next!

CLASSES IN SFX MAKEUP:
With a background in performing arts education, I am thrilled to now offer virtual SFX courses through Outschool. From facepaint to gore to prosthetics, I love guiding students in their MUA journey!

I'm all about putting the FUN in fundamental skills! I believe student engagement is key to a successful education and am dedicated to promoting humor in every lesson. I aim to be the most supportive, engaging teacher possible, working to meet my students where they are.
