Etiquette is a code of behavior that a community expects its citizens to follow. It is the written and unwritten rules of conduct that help people a groups work more smoothly. Etiquette is important because it shows respect and respect builds trust. This course is great for students who are ready to get on the internet, but need to learn more about etiquette beforehand. Basic guidelines for digital etiquette Try to be a good person--offline and online. Courtesy is a habit. Keep emails and communications short and to the point. People appreciate others who don't waste time. Include relevant information in the subject line Check grammar and spelling. Sloppy writing may give an impression of carelessness. Be cautious and THINK before texting. Remember that email and everything we do online is not private. We leave footprints of where we go and what we do, all of which becomes part of a digital dossier. Always be courteous, considerate, and responsible when writing email or other online communications. Show respect for others. We get consent before including the photos or words of others in posts. We guard their privacy as would our own.
