 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introduction and Get to Know Photoshop
This lesson will focus on getting to know the Photoshop interface and understanding how to open and save files in Photoshop. We will also delve into the toolbar and become familiar with tools such as the move and zoom tool.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Design Project - Postcard- Composition, Colors and Layers
In this session, we will explore the realm of design, with a specific emphasis on layers. We will delve into the techniques of scaling, rotating, and flipping to modify these layers. Additionally, we will gain proficiency in the art of undoing and redoing any changes made. Furthermore, we will discuss design elements and discover how to craft compositions that resonate with our personal preferences.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Design Project -Fun Characters -Layers
In this lesson, we will explore a range of techniques for transforming and manipulating layers. Our focus will be on designing and adjusting layers to create visually captivating images.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Design Project - Fantasy World- Selection Tools and Layer Blending Modes
The focus of this project lies in understanding the selection tool and its role in cutting layers. Moreover, we will embark on our exploration of layer blending modes.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Design Project- Photo- Filters
In this project we will explore the world of filters, where the options are endless and we learn how to enhance our images.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Design Project- Imaginative Creature- Selection, Eraser tools & Liquefied filter
As we progress in our learning, we will expand our knowledge of selection tools, while simultaneously exploring the applications of liquified filter and erasing tools. Furthermore, we will develop the ability to seamlessly match colors.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Design Project- Knowledge is Power- Magazine Cover
We are still in the process of learning how to execute more intricate tasks when designing a magazine cover. Among the techniques we will be utilizing are the spot healing brush tool, liquifying filter, type tool, paint bucket, and rectangle tool.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Design Project- Alien Cat- Gifs
In this project, we will animate our image by utilizing a series of images to simulate movement and produce a gif.
  • Upon completion, the students will have the basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and the ability to produce original artwork as well as manipulate existing images.
I have experience teaching the digital design class at graduate level at Northwestern University.
I am the Award Winning Fashion & Costume Designer with the MFA from Northwestern University.

Homework Offered
Students will watch videos and submit their work weekly.
