Digital Arts: Creative Arts Coding for Kids (FLEX)

This class will focus on the computer coding process and allow for students to express their creative problem solving skills through coding and art. Students will learn how to build code using Blockly to create artistic visual and/or dance pieces . Each week students will enjoy playing coding games, collaborate and help students through coding challenges, and learn coding skills such as building sequences, loops, conditions like If/Then. I will play code based games that push the meaning of the coding language and model how to build code through specific challenges. Students will be encouraged to share their coding skills and artistic creativity as they accomplish assigned coding tasks. 

Students will interact with each other and the teacher through weekly Nearpod lessons and response activities. Students will also share coding insights with one another during the weekly Padlet writing prompt.

Students do not need any prior computer coding knowledge.  This course will work with each learner at their individual level.

Student interaction with the teacher will occur through the Outschool class discussion board, Coding.org progress monitoring, Padlet.
