Digital Art: Let's Draw Kawaii Animals!

This 3-week class is designed for new artists with an interest in digital art and drawing cute things. Students will learn how to draw animals in the Japanese "kawaii" style using tools within the Procreate app for iPad or iPhone. We will learn step-by-step how to choose the right brushes, create simple line art, and use layering and color to bring these little creations to life. 
Class will begin with a brief introduction to what we will be drawing on that particular day, and we will all begin the drawing process together. I plan to demonstrate drawing about 2-3 different animals per class. Students are encouraged to suggest and add their own favorite animals for future classes if they'd like to learn how to draw them! 
Throughout the class, I will also teach students a few Japanese vocabulary words relating to the animals we will be drawing.

I will be sharing my iPad screen so that students can follow along live. Students can always feel free to stop an ask questions along the way. I want to make sure everyone is following along well!
I will provide feedback on the student's artwork and suggestions to further improve their artistic skills.
This is meant to be a fun class where students can be creative with their art while also learning essential digital art tips and tricks to draw some fun creations. 

Course Syllabus:

WEEK 1 - FOREST ANIMALS: 
• We will be drawing a fox, deer, and panda.
• Learning how to draw line art and use:
- layers
- color
- transformation tools (Warp, Symmetry, Size Adjustments, etc.)
• Learn Japanese vocabulary words relating to the animals (ex. names, features, colors, shapes,).

WEEK 2 - FARM ANIMALS:
• We will be drawing a sheep, cow, and duck. 
• Review and use learned Procreate tools.
• Learn Japanese vocabulary words relating to the animals.

WEEK 3 - PETS & YOUR CHOICE!:
• We will be drawing a dog and a cat in the first half of class.
• During the second half, students can choose whichever animal they'd like as they will have acquired steps on how to create a kawaii animal from scratch. And... it can be real, fictitious, or a mix of both! The important thing is to have fun while capturing the "kawaii-ness"!
• Learn Japanese vocabulary words relating to the animals.
