Intermediate Level
In this one-time tech class, learners will learn about the world of the 19th century poet, writer and designer, William Morris, and explore some of his well-known wallpaper and textile designs. Learners will then use a range of techniques to create their own symmetrical textile design looking to the design ideas employed by Morris and fellow artisans. Students will work alongside my demonstrations and learn how to use the symmetry tools and different brushes to recreate their own version of a classic William Morris design. This is a fun beginner’s class, with no prior knowledge of Procreate needed, but is also suitable for learners who want to develop their design skills further. This course is best delivered if you can work on your iPad whilst watching the demonstration on a different device.
Learning Goals
> Students will be able to confidently access and use the main drawing tools and symmetry tools within the Procreate App to create their own textile design.
> Students will experiment with different drawing styles and color palettes, making references to the artwork of the Arts and Craft Movement of the late 1800s.
