In this ongoing course, students will be challenged creatively to step outside of their comfort zone and begin taking steps forward on their art journey using their preferred digital art software! Students will be given a topic each week that will guide the art they create for this course. Such topics include superheroes, villains, self-portraits, fairytales, animals, monsters, landscapes, and more! Having a new topic each week is a great way for students to challenge themselves as they develop and learn new digital art/digital painting techniques. Students can use the chosen topic to create posters, stickers, avatars, emotes, and more! Each week students will practice the fundamental phases of digital art such as sketching, line work, coloring, adding shadows, highlights and more! Students will complete the course using their preferred digital art software (i.e., Krita (Free), Autodesk Sketchbook (Free), Medibang Paint (Free), Procreate, Clip Studio Paint, Adobe Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, etc.). The instructor will be using Clip Studio Paint along with a graphic tablet and digital pen/stylus. It is highly recommended that students use a digital pen/stylus. Using a computer mouse or your own finger can be challenging and not efficient when learning how to digitally draw. This is not a directed drawing course; however, the instructor will have his screen shared as he draws and talks about his process for creating an art piece that meets the week's topic. The processes the instructor discusses may include how to find a good reference image, the importance of blocking out shapes, discussing composition, dividing the canvas into a foreground, midground and background, blending tips and more. Students are free to ask questions and seek advice throughout the lesson from both the instructor and other students. This course is for all skill levels! Whether you are an advanced artist, or just starting out everyone can learn something new from the instructor or each other in this course. Students taking the course should know the basics of operating their digital art software before joining the course. This includes how to create a new file, locating basic tools (move tool, transform tool, bucket tool, etc.), and creating layers. Students should also know how to browse for reference images online (i.e. using Google Images) to start the planning/sketching phase of their drawings. Due to the nature of this course, students are free to join and leave this course at any time. The topics for each week do not build on each other so your child will not be missing out if they are unable to attend a specific week. The only difference between each week is the topic that will be covered for that day's meeting. Welcome! My name is Rocco Sepulveda.
I have been a certified teacher for over 10 years. I have also been a Digital Artist for over 10 years as well!
My classroom is a space where learners can shine creatively, make strides towards their artistic goals, and share their passions with each other. It is a safe space where students can openly be themselves. In my courses students will learn to become better artists as they practice different drawing techniques. These techniques include learning to sketch, learning to break a figure down into simple shapes, learning a layered approach to drawing, learning different styles of applying linework, and learning different methods for rendering artwork.
I look forward to having your learner in my class!
