Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing digitally and familiarize with the various tools available for sketching and painting. This class will take students to a wild world of imagination to create superhero characters.
Class experience
This class is an ongoing format. Students will sketch a new digital design every week. Each week is charged as a subscription on Sunday mornings. Students can join or leave the series any week. Students are required to have some digital art experience and basic understanding of digital tools already. Students will learn the basics of digital art. Using layers, brushes and masks they will create the design digitally. We will go over how to break down a drawing into simple shapes on a sketch...
Students will learn the fundamental techniques in digital cartooning, including: ● Layers ● Clipping mask ● Stamp tool ● Brushes/Softness/Opacity ● Coloring/Shading/Highlights
Teacher Sarah is a professional digital art graphic artist, familiar with the processes of creating and constructing illustrations.
Student Materials Needed: HARDWARE: Computer or Drawing tablet with a stylus SOFTWARE: Teacher will use a third-party tool program called Clip Studio Paint. Here is the link for a free trial download: https://www.clipstudio.net/en/purchase/trial/ Clip Studio Paint is an all-rounded program that has similar functions as most commonly-used programs. It is compatible for both Mac and Windows. We would like to keep it cost-free to start for beginners. Students are encouraged to obtain the same program, but are welcomed to use their own already installed programs since emphasis is on familiarization with the digital art process and not on how to use a particular program. Once students have mastered the initial skill sets, they will be able to comfortably upgrade their software or transition to other similar programs.

We will use a third party teaching tool called "Clip Studio" which is a software used for digital drawing. For learners under 13 years old, a parent account is required for the software startup after download. Students MUST have the software, or any similar drawing program installed before taking this class.
