I am a certified (7-12) Social Studies teacher and have taught a variety of honors level courses (AS/A Level, KS3, GCSE, I.B. and A.P.) in both private and public schools over the past 30 years. Historical writing, source analysis, and exam preparation as well as an immersive approach to the study of history has made my classes both meaningful and enjoyable. My tutoring experience has spanned the entire 21st century with ACT, SAT, SSAT, ISEE, A.P. Histories, and Subject Tests.
This is a structured approach to this topic, thus reading assignments, note-taking, and independent practice is an integral part of this course of study. Students will be expected to log on prepared for the lesson and to be fully engaged in participation for the hour of instruction. "Homework" will be relevant and meaningful, aiming towards honing skills necessary for higher marks on future exams such as GCSE and AS/A Level.
The instructor will provide the supplemental readings, scholarly articles, past papers, and documents necessary for this course. If a textbook is needed, we will discuss which one is the most appropriate one for the specific examination for you to purchase.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be asked to complete a series of source-based and other questions between sessions. With this work submitted in a timely manner, the instructor and student will review the marked work and discuss the comments provided. This will be a regular activity, stepped and measured, to enhance the student's potential in the subject area. Progress will be measured weekly as per session tutorials.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This course will cover war, revolution, genocide and a number of other atrocities as part of the historical content of the time period.
The instructor will provide the supplemental readings, scholarly articles, past papers, and documents necessary for this course. If a textbook is needed, we will discuss which one is the most appropriate one for the specific examination for you to purchase.
