In this ongoing class, students and teacher will meet once a week to discuss the weekly book with time to write in their own journals (and share!) based on a guided prompt inspired by the weekly reading.

Class Experience

Diary of a Wimpy Kid takes tween readers along on "The adventures of a 12-year-old (Greg Heffley) who is fresh out of elementary and transitions to middle school, where he has to learn the consequences and responsibility to survive the year." -IMDB

Class will begin with a short and fun warm-up to engage students and get everyone in the space to participate. Students will then be guided through a series of multiple-choice and open-ended questions for full comprehension of the book plot....

Students will gain full comprehension of each book's plot points, conflict, and character development while reflecting on their own lives and writing about it.

Students will need to read the assigned book independently.

Students will need to obtain a copy of each week's assigned book as detailed in the class description. Students may wish to obtain a diary or journal, or use paper and pencil for the short writing portion of the class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Assessment upon request.

40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
