This is a series of books that can be read as stand alone novels. That means that you don't need to have read the first book, nor do you need to have taken the first class in order to enroll in this book club. The Owl Diaries Books are so great for children ages 5-8, or anyone that enjoys early chapter books. They appeal to our imaginations as we read Eva's diary entries and enjoy her doodles. Eva Sees a Ghost is a quick read and we're going to keep the pace up with twice a week...
Students will learn a lot of different approaches to keeping their own diaries and expressing their thoughts. We will discuss new vocabulary words, and story points. We will touch on themes as we discuss some friendship conflicts in the story, and we will explore character types in simple graphic organizers. We will express ourselves through some art projects. Each child will even craft their own book review which can be (at the family's discretion) shared here for future readers, or uploaded to the review section for Amazon or any other online book retailer.
Reading sections and journal prompts will be assigned between meetings.
A copy of Eva Sees a Ghost by Rebecca Elliott A notebook to be used as a journal Printable resources will be available in the classroom. Pens, pencils, and markers. Art projects: bookmark: colored paper, scissors, tape or glue rocks: a smooth rock suitable for painting (these can be purchased at craft stores or even online), a variety of colors of craft paint or colored permanent markers.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

I'm an avid reader, and an author. I was never so surprised in all my life as when my son told me he "just wasn't into reading" and that he thought "writing was the worst part of school." I had to think quick before he missed out on all the...
