Assessment
This class is an assessment.
Grading
Upon completion of the assessment, parents will be provided with a PDF scoring sheet with the results of their child's performance in each thread and concept along with a recommendation of what practice activities and next steps they may be ready for. This may be helpful in determining curriculum choice and planning.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
This class is designed to be an assessment of basic math skills generally taught in Kindergarten through second grade. The following concepts will be assessed: Counting, Cardinality, and Number Sense, Estimation and Rounding, Place Value in Base Ten, Operations and Computation, Fractions, Patterns, Geometry, and Data and Graphing. Each concept will have multiple threads within which will be assessed verbally and through the use of multiple choice, fill in the blanks, and writing/drawing type questions.

The assessment is divided into two sessions each approximately one hour long, but the time can vary depending on student mastery of the concepts. The questions in each thread will increase in difficulty as we go, but if a lack of familiarity with any given concept is perceived, the test will be paused and we will move onto another concept with no guilt or pressure to complete any portions of the test with which the student may not be familiar.

The test will be given using Power Point slides, some of which will ask students to annotate their responses.

The first session will cover Counting, Cardinality, and Number Sense, Estimation and Rounding, Place Value in Base Ten, and Operations and Computation. The second session will cover Fractions, Patterns, Geometry, and Data and Graphing, although this may be adjusted based on student stamina.

Upon completion of the assessment, parents will be provided with a PDF scoring sheet with the results of their child's performance in each thread and concept along with a recommendation of what practice activities and next steps they may be ready for. This may be helpful in determining curriculum choice and planning.
Learning Goals
