Developing Reading Comprehension

Class
Mrs. Ross
Reading is so much more than sounding out words. We need to understand what we read! In this 1-1 class, we will focus on reading comprehension. Join me to gain the tools to help you blossom as a reader!

Class Experience

  • By the end of the class, my goal is for students to feel confident with their newly gained comprehension tools and use them independently as they continue to grow as readers.
I have been a teacher for the last decade, specializing primarily in early literacy and writing, mathematics, and social emotional wellness. I love history and anthropology, psychology, creating art and music, baking, hiking, and more! My general approach to teaching is slow paced, warm, and encouraging. I meet the learner where they are, while giving them space to blossom at their own pace. I pride myself in using positive language and responsive classroom techniques to run my lessons.

Please provide a text the student is working on, or I will do my best to provide reading material that is best suited for the student's reading level.
Although parents are not required to supervise our lessons, they are encouraged to be near by in the event that the student needs technical or material support.
