Are you looking for ways to improve your child's writing? Does your child have difficulty developing ideas on what to write? Are you looking for a way to make writing fun? This is a great foundational class! Writing good sentences is the building block to writing great essays and stories.  Learning how to effectively convey thoughts through writing is an important skill students will use throughout their life.  This class will focus on the steps to write engaging sentences. Taking basic sentences to engaging sentences.   Your child won't believe how easy it is once we break it down.

Topics covered in this class: 
*What is a sentence
*What are the parts of a sentence 
*The different types of sentences 
*What makes a descriptive sentence
*Techniques to get started
*Putting it all together

Class syllabus
1.	Discuss different parts of a sentence, and play around with manipulatives to reinforce parts of speech.
2.	Look at examples and identify the part of speech.
3.	Use a picture to make a list of words.
4.	Turn the list into a basic sentence.
5.	Then transform the basic into an interesting, varied sentence. 

Students who take this class should have background knowledge of nouns and verbs.

Students will improve their writing by learning techniques to build better sentences

Supply List
Students will need paper and something to write with.  Ruled notebook paper and pencil are best.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am a passionate and dedicated Special Education teacher with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field. With over 15 years of experience under my belt, I have honed my skills in teaching the highly effective Orton-Gillingham reading approach and advocating for students with Dyslexia and other Special Education needs.

My goal as an educator is to foster a supportive and enjoyable classroom environment where every student feels empowered and confident to engage actively in their own educational journey. I firmly believe that education should be a personalized experience that caters to the unique strengths and challenges of each individual student.

To achieve this, I employ a range of cognitive teaching methods that are specifically designed to meet the diverse needs of my students. I firmly believe in providing structured, explicit, multi-sensory, and systematic instruction that targets the specific areas of difficulty for each student. By employing these evidence-based strategies, I ensure that my students receive the support they need to develop essential reading and language skills.
In my classroom, I create a warm and inclusive atmosphere that encourages collaboration, respect, and understanding. I strive to build strong relationships with my students, their families, and other professionals involved in their education, fostering a team approach that maximizes student success.

I am passionate about advocating for students with Dyslexia and other Special Education needs, both within and beyond the classroom. I actively engage in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field. This enables me to provide the most effective and innovative instruction to my students, empowering them to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
