Are you looking for ways to improve your child's writing? Does your child have difficulty developing ideas on what to write? Are you looking for a way to make writing fun? This is a great foundational class! Writing good sentences is the building block to writing great essays and stories. Learning how to effectively convey thoughts through writing is an important skill students will use throughout their life. This class will focus on the steps to write engaging sentences. Taking basic sentences to engaging sentences. Your child won't believe how easy it is once we break it down. Topics covered in this class: *What is a sentence *What are the parts of a sentence *The different types of sentences *What makes a descriptive sentence *Techniques to get started *Putting it all together Class syllabus 1. Discuss different parts of a sentence, and play around with manipulatives to reinforce parts of speech. 2. Look at examples and identify the part of speech. 3. Use a picture to make a list of words. 4. Turn the list into a basic sentence. 5. Then transform the basic into an interesting, varied sentence. Students who take this class should have background knowledge of nouns and verbs.

Students will need paper and something to write with. Ruled notebook paper and pencil are best.
